Summit Psychology is here to help

Sometimes asking for help is difficult. It can be made even more difficult when we’re not feeling like our best selves. Maybe you’re not functioning as well as you usually do. Perhaps tasks that used to feel easy now feel overwhelming, and that’s scary. If you’re considering therapy, especially for the first time, you might be feeling nervous, vulnerable, uncertain, even ashamed. After searching, you may find a few psychologists in your area, only to learn that they are not accepting new patients, don’t take your type of insurance, or are out of the range you can afford to pay. Trying to get access to a good therapist, one you can really connect with, can be intimidating, demoralizing or just plain frustrating. Summit Psychology wants to simplify that for you.

Free in-person consultations are always available.
Therapy is an investment in your own well-being; don’t you think you owe it to yourself to meet a potential therapist before you make the decision to work together? Let’s take the stress and guesswork out of that decision and schedule an initial consultation at no charge to see if this feels like a good fit.

One in four patients at Summit Psychology PLLC is seen at significantly reduced rates.
I am proud to partner with Open Path Psychotherapy Collective as a means of seeing patients who might not otherwise have a chance to benefit from psychotherapy. To learn more about Open Path Psychotherapy Collective, visit Open Path Collective or feel free to contact Dr. Layne directly with questions.

Special rates are always offered to military servicepersons (active duty and veterans) and teachers.
These vocational groups are near and dear to my heart due to their dedication, sacrifice and commitment. This is one way I can express my gratitude towards people that make such a huge impact on the lives of others. Please mention if you fall into one of these groups so that Dr. Layne can offer you a significantly reduced rate for psychotherapy.

  • A 50-minute session costs $90 – $180.

  • I don’t accept insurance, which is more formally known as “out-of-network.” I have opted to practice this way for a number of reasons, but to put it simply, this allows me to provide therapy in a way that is most consistent with my own professional and ethical standards of care. We can work together to navigate this process, and I am happy to provide you with a form called a “Superbill”, which you may then turn into your insurance for possible reimbursement. This means that you are responsible for the session fee at the time of our appointment, and depending on your insurance plan, you may be reimbursed a certain percentage of that by your insurance. I encourage you to speak in advance to your insurance company regarding your “out-of-network” benefits, so that there are no upsetting financial surprises down the road.

  • I accept cash, credit card and check.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes in length and we will likely meet once to twice weekly. This can be better answered once we first meet, and it is a decision we will make together following a thorough assessment, with your needs and goals taken into consideration.

  • Yes, and no… I have worked with children of all ages. That being said, I am not presently equipped to see young children who might better benefit from a play therapy setting. My general rule of thumb is that if a child can participate in talk therapy, I can work with them. Presently, I see tweens, adolescents and older, but if you have a precocious 7-year-old who could participate in talk therapy, let’s chat and assess the situation.

  • Excellent question! An individualized therapy is one of the most important investments you will make, and one of the best predictors of a successful outcome is the goodness of fit between you and your therapist. I cannot stress how important it is to feel comfortable with your therapeutic partnership. Unfortunately, you usually have to pay for a full session (often upwards of $150) before you even commit to working with a particular therapist. To offset this frustrating situation, I offer an in-person consultation at no charge so that we can meet face to face and briefly discuss what brings you to therapy. This will give us an opportunity to meet personally, discuss concerns, answer questions and get a feel for whether we would like to move forward. I want you to feel comfortable working with me, and I want to know that I am the best therapist to address your particular concerns.

  • I am passionate about providing people treatment when they need it and not just when they can afford it. For those who cannot afford to pay current market rates of psychotherapy (between $120 to $250 a session) or those who have inadequate health insurance coverage, please know that we have options! I would love to discuss them with you during an initial consultation, which I offer to you at no charge. Let’s meet, chat further and come up with an arrangement that works for you. Therapy can be life-changing, and I am motivated to make it do-able for you.
