How do I know if therapy is right for me?

The daily juggling act, being all things to all people, that stressful place between parenting and caring for aging parents… burn out and exhaustion are just a few of the challenges women face. Turns out that balancing family, work, your own priorities and everyone else’s needs can quickly exceed your ability to cope. Feelings like sadness, anger, irritability, anxiety or even panic may surface, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and out of control. You may feel downright fearful for the first time ever. The ways you have always cared for yourself may no longer be enough. I have an affinity for working with women who have reached the point of depletion. They are no longer coping well, they may feel emotionally overwhelmed, a sense of desperation is mounting and they are uncertain about how best to move forward. It’s an agonizing place to be at a standstill. Therapy can help.

Finding the right professional

An individualized therapy is one of the most important investments you will make, and one of the best predictors of a successful outcome is the goodness of fit between you and your therapist. I can’t stress enough how important it is to feel good about your therapeutic partnership. At Summit Psychology, PLLC, we offer the opportunity for an in-person consultation at no charge. This will give us an opportunity to meet personally, discuss your situation, answer questions and get a feel for whether we would like to move forward. I want you to feel comfortable with your choice of therapist, and I also want to know that I am the best therapist to address your specific concerns.
