Hello,

I’m Dr. Jeanne Layne

I’m a clinical psychologist, but you might also call me a self-care strategist. I help women who feel stretched so thin that they really can’t recall the last moment they had to themselves. I once had a patient refer to this as being “ground down to a nub.” Outwardly, they often look like put-together moms, devoted caretakers, willing volunteers and glass-ceiling shatterers. But the women I work with are inwardly fearful, avoidant, indecisive, sad, irritable, guilty, angry.… even panicked. In a word, they feel utterly and entirely depleted. They often feel as though there is not an ounce of energy left to take care of themselves.

In a space that invites calm, curiosity, total acceptance and a laugh or two, I accompany them through the (sometimes challenging, but always worthwhile) process of inquiry, self-examination and skill building that provides a pathway to designing a life they love. Along the way, feelings of anxiety, emptiness, worry, anger, resentment and sadness lose their power as they become both speakable and manageable. I know from my own experience of being a ferocious multi-tasker, late-in-life mother, grieving daughter and lifelong overachiever that women today are especially vulnerable to depletion. But I also believe that my patients are some of the most courageous women I’ve ever met. If you’re in the frame of mind to slow down, be curious, reflect on your choices, discover what lights you up and find balance and gratitude for the life you’ve designed, let’s chat.

Woman are fierce multi-taskers, except when it comes to making themselves a priority.

This is therapy for women who are anxious, running on empty, heartbroken, or just not where they imagined they would be at this point in their lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A 50-minute session costs $140 – $225.

  • I don’t accept insurance, which is more formally known as “out-of-network.” I have opted to practice this way for a number of reasons, but to put it simply, this allows me to provide therapy in a way that is most consistent with my own professional and ethical standards of care. We can work together to navigate this process, and I am happy to provide you with a form called a “Superbill”, which you may then turn into your insurance for possible reimbursement. This means that you are responsible for the session fee at the time of our appointment, and depending on your insurance plan, you may be reimbursed a certain percentage of that by your insurance. I encourage you to speak in advance to your insurance company regarding your “out-of-network” benefits, so that there are no upsetting financial surprises down the road.

  • I accept cash, credit card and check.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes in length and we will likely meet once to twice weekly. This can be better answered once we first meet, and it is a decision we will make together following a thorough assessment, with your needs and goals taken into consideration.

  • I have worked with children, tween and adolescents of all ages, but at this phase of my career, I work exclusively with adults.

  • Excellent question! An individualized therapy is one of the most important investments you will make, and one of the best predictors of a successful outcome is the goodness of fit between you and your therapist. I cannot stress how important it is to feel comfortable with your therapeutic partnership. Unfortunately, you usually have to pay for a full session (often upwards of $150) before you even commit to working with a particular therapist. To offset this frustrating situation, I offer an in-person consultation at no charge so that we can meet face to face and briefly discuss what brings you to therapy. This will give us an opportunity to meet personally, discuss concerns, answer questions and get a feel for whether we would like to move forward. I want you to feel comfortable working with me, and I want to know that I am the best therapist to address your particular concerns.

  • I am passionate about providing people treatment when they need it and not just when they can afford it. For those who cannot afford to pay current market rates of psychotherapy (between $120 to $250 a session) or those who have inadequate health insurance coverage, please know that we have options! I would love to discuss them with you during an initial consultation, which I offer to you at no charge. Let’s meet, chat further and come up with an arrangement that works for you. Therapy can be life-changing, and I am motivated to make it do-able for you.
